Ben and Alwin’s wedding day was one of the most fun and memorable I’ve had the pleasure of photographing. It was a day full of very personal touches, a ton of love, a few happy tears and a lot of laughter. Not only was it a true celebration of family and the couple’s partnership. I am so happy that I got to be a part of such a beautiful day. Hopefully, I have created some images that help Ben and Alwin remember this special time in their relationship for years to come.

Pre- ceremony
From the start the day was laid back and relaxed. The couple got ready together along with their brothers. Due to the intimate natural of the morning, this created a chance to capture intimate moments shared between the couple. Moreover, the strong connection shared between them and their brothers was clear.

Rather than a car or limo, we took the subway to the wedding which made for a fun backdrop for photos. Ben and Alwin stopped along the way to put up signs leading the wedding guests to the reception site. Each brightly coloured sign read “Uncle Ben & Uncle Alwin’s Wedding”. And to me, the best part: the signs were made by the couple’s nieces and nephews. That personal touch and the way it made their nieces and nephews an important part of the plan really spoke to me as an auntie myself.

The below image of Ben & Alwin riding the subway on the way to their wedding was featured on Fearless Photographer website. What an honour!

After the wedding Ben & Alwin shared a wonderful review with me:
“Lauren was the best decision we made for our wedding. It is such a crucial part of your wedding memories – and Lauren and her team provided incredible photographic memories. She had researched our route and locations; we were able to shoot our photographs efficiently with such beautiful results. We have got so many compliments on our photographs since the wedding.
She has subsequently been our photographer for a family event in January 2014 and again showed her creative style and professionalism. So, I have no hesitation in recommending her for any event you have. You will not be disappointed.”

Ben & Alwin had their same-sex wedding ceremony at St. Paul’s Church in downtown Toronto, a beautiful historic building. I noted that family was a big part of the wedding day. Ben’s sister led the beautiful wedding service.

During the ceremony there were some beautiful moments and memories.

After the ceremony
After the ceremony the wedding guests were led by Ben and Alwin for a short walk through downtown Toronto to the reception site. The reception was at the Hart House on the University of Toronto campus.

Coupled with a party for the books and a surprise choreographed first dance, full of energy and a ton of fun!

Lastly, I celebrate queer love in my work, all body shapes and races and I believe every beautiful love story! I strive to create an inclusive and safe space for you to be your true selves throughout your wedding planning. In addition, this space is for you to be your true selves on your special day.
