It was a chilly but pleasant October day when we met up with C & B and their guests gathered downtown for their Edmonton Streetcar elopement. After some quick greetings and family photos, everyone boarded for the scenic ride along the historic Canadian Pacific Railway. Once above the river valley on the High Level bridge, the ceremony began. It was a romantic setting and a great group of people celebrated the couple with champagne hugs and so much joy.

Edmonton Streetcar Elopement Takes Off
When this couple asked me to capture their wedding in a candid way, I was excited. The Bride told me she didn’t want any staged photos (we took a couple of shots in front of the Edmonton Streetcar) but preferred that the event be photographed more organically. I told her she was speaking my language as I love creating documentary-style wedding photography for my couples.

My work focuses a lot on a documentary style of wedding photography, so what that means is we’re going to be capturing your guests throughout the day, such as during the ceremony and reception, in a candid way. During the ceremony and reception, I try to focus on family as well because a big part of the wedding day is the people you’ve included. I like to create a story of the day, including who is there for you. I find that it’s important not only to capture how the day looked (all the pretty) but also how the day felt: all the authenticity, the feels.
