Avneet & Mike’s South Asian wedding week was one for the books. I am so grateful to them for trusting me!
The couple leaned into tradition and incorporated many South Asian wedding rituals, which always seem to highlight the warmth between loved ones and the excitement shared by both families. Avneet and Mike’s ceremony at Hastings Lake Gardens was a whimsical garden party. Their reception at Star Banquet Hall was an absolute energy fest with young and old on the dance floor all evening!

This was one of the cutest Father/ Bride first looks I’ve photographed. Avneet and her Dad shared a moment just before her I Do’s and it had all the feelings. When he saw her dressed in her white Lehenga, he couldn’t hold back his excitement, and when he read her cards, he couldn’t hold back his tears.
Photographing those moments is what makes my job so fulfilling. Some moments are loud, and some are quiet, like a soft hand on a daughter’s cheek to say “I’m proud of you”. Chasing those moments for my couples and their families is what lights me up about my job!
Why We Stay Late
After the cake cutting, speeches and the formal dances are done, the wedding day is captured, right? Well, we believe the best way to create a full story is to stay past the formal agenda into the reception. So why stay late? Over the years, some of my favourite photos are from the reception. Unplanned fun moments, dance floor, intimate hugs, that I would have otherwise missed because I’d left. And, the more I captured and shared these photos with my couples, the more I heard how much they loved those shots. I realised it brought them back to how the day felt. At this wedding it was no different: Avneet’s entrance with her ladies, Mike dancing with his glow stick-wielding grandmother, someone raiding the Photo Booth props and everyone’s elation on the dance, young and old!
